Hi, I’m Addison Petty. I am a rising Junior for the 2023-2024 year. This will be my 3rd year as a CAHS Royals dancer. (I also danced 3 years as a Maiden at CAMS). This year I am excited to try out for Head Dance Captain.
I have been dancing from a young age, becoming a serious dancer at the age of 9 when I joined the Tyler Junior College Academy of Dance. In my six years with the academy, I studied Ballet and Modern dancing intensively taking as many as six classes a week in addition to performance rehearsals. Each year we performed the TJC Nutcracker and a spring show in addition to numerous performances and charity events. I was selected and spent a year as a Ballet Company Dancer at Artistic Dance Concepts. I am currently a Company Dancer at Candy Crocker focusing on jazz and tap.
I am involved in the performing arts outside of dance as well. I have been playing violin since the 3rd grade. I enjoy participating in our school’s orchestra and competing in UIL and solo / ensemble events. I am not enrolled in Theater class, but I join in when I can. I danced in The Addams Family musical last year and I co-choreographed this year’s production of The 25th Annual Putman County Spelling Bee. In Middle School I was cast in Mulan and Zink: the Myth, the Legend, and the Zebra. I have also participated with the Green Acres Student Choir.
I have participated in Athletics as well. I played a season on the soccer team and a season on the cross-country team. In my younger years I was a competitive gymnast, but these days I just take occasional tumbling classes to maintain skills.
I am proud to have been selected to serve the Tyler community as a Rose City Ambassador. This is my second year as an ambassador assisting with area events such as the Azalea Trails and the Rose Festival.
I am a good student, maintaining my grades and exhibiting good conduct. I am a member of the Student Council and the National Honor Society.
In my free time I enjoy reading, traveling, and spending time with friends.
